Before you remodel your kitchen cabinets.

"I can't wait for my kitchen remodel. I design and I know what kind of cabinets I want. I just wish I could get in there and get started. "

But it is not possible! Massachusetts has one of the strictest building codes in the United States. Here's a quick list of things to make and need to know before you start tearing your kitchen or bathroom.

Here are some tips that will make your kitchen remodel much easier.

1) first of all, have your contractor authorized file a permission to build the Palazzo di città, or Office-inspection services. Usually they meet in the morning between 8-10 and 15-16, but call your local Office for hours of operations. They will let you know what you need for your permission.

2) you will need a drawing of your drawing, and any alteration that will be your kitchen or bathroom. They can also get specific and ask what kind of equipment will be installed. Make sure you have all these items available for your contractor.

3) your contractor will require a valid CSL or construction supervisors License, a license or Home improvement contractor HIC and a form of workers ' compensation insurance affidavit. (You should always ask for a certificate of insurance from your contractor to make sure that he and his company is insured.)

4) the contractor shall also submit a contract with your signature and/or permit application signed by you. This is to make sure that you are authorizing the work must be performed as well as to confirm the cost of the project. The cost of the project will determine the cost of the permit. Typically $ 10. 00 per $ 1,000.00 of construction. (i.e. If your kitchen remodel will cost $ 35,000.00, costs will be $ 350. 00.) do not forget, this won't be the only time you pay a tax. You will pay for permission to electrical and plumbing permit. Generally, the co-contractor electric and hydraulic add these fees to their price. Be sure to find out what are the fees. Commissions vary from city to city, so you could call your city building Department ahead of time or ask your contractor to be informed.

5) you can start the next day or so depending on how swift is your local inspector to write permissions. Be sure that you and your contractor to respect and listen to your Inspector.

If you follow these simple steps, the project will be headache free and run smoothly.
